The terms elder abuse,
nursing home abuse, and
nursing home accident are becoming more common terms to hear as our population ages and the number of patients entering these homes and facilities increases. As

Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester. We are available to meet with you and your family in New York City, Queens or Nassau County. If you can't make to one of our locations, we are happy to come to you.
Elder care facilities, such as nursing homes and long-term care facilities are routinely understaffed with underpaid and poorly trained employees. In-home care attendants such as nurse's aides and home companions, have been shown to lack diligence in the care of the elderly, preventing injuries, insuring proper medications are taken and be attentive to the patient who is susceptible to falls.
While many nursing homes provide excellent care, far too many do not. Nursing home residents may suffer physically and emotionally from abusive, neglectful situations. The results of neglectful treatment in nursing homes may range from painful bedsores, dehydration, malnutrition or even broken bones related to falls. These medical conditions diminish our loved ones quality of life and can even premature death. For family members and loved ones, identifying nursing home abuse can be a challenging and frustrating process with patients often unable to speak for themselves. In order to be eligible for Medicare or Medicaid, nursing homes and long-term care facilities must comply with certain federal regulations and laws. These regulations and laws set out in detail the type and quality of care that residents in these facilities must receive.
Injuries may also occur during the transportation of patients to and from the facility for routine medical care, dialysis or for hospitalization. Ambulances and "ambulettes" must insure for the safe transport of patients to and from these facilities. Patients should be properly restrained in the vehicle and properly loaded and unloaded so as not to cause injury.
